Vivian (Diamond) Kenig, 82 years of age, of West Hartford died Friday, January 29, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center. She was the widow of Albert Kenig. Born in Torrington, she was the daughter of the late Jon and Anna Diamond. She graduated from Willimantic State Teacher’s College with a degree in elementary education. Vivian taught in the Hartford Public School System for over 30 years. She volunteered at the Bushnell Memorial Theater for many years, and was an active member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Jewish Women?s International, and a member of Hadassah. She leaves her children, Alene Gurin and her husband Joseph of West Orange, NJ, Janet Starr and her husband Bram of Montpelier, VT, and Robert J. Kenig of Plainfield; and her grandchildren, Aleah and Rebecca Starr. She also leaves a wide circle of wonderful and supportive friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Irving Diamond. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
