Thelma "Tybie" (Fierberg) Katz

Thelma “Tybie” (Fierberg) Katz, 90, of West Hartford, died Monday (January 28, 2013). She was the widow of Herbert Ruel Katz. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Maurice R. and Fannie (Matchton) Fierberg. Tybie was a guidance office secretary at Hall High School in West Hartford until she retired. She was a member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford. She leaves two sons, Robert M. Katz and his wife Bobbie Werner of West Hartford, and David P. Katz and his wife Elizabeth of Easton; her sister, Jane Field of West Hartford; and four grandchildren, Dana, Evan, Benjamin and Peter. She was predeceased by her sister Bernice Jacobson. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday February 1, 2013 at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. A memorial period will be observed on Friday, February 1 and Sunday, February 3 at the home of Bob Katz & Bobbie Werner, 18 Westland Avenue, West Hartford.
