Sylvia (Dress) Heiman

Sylvia Heiman, 85, of Newington, passed away on August 7, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, Judge Maxwell Heiman. Sylvia leaves behind her son Scott Heiman, daughter and son-in-law Deborah & Robert Tvaronaitis, and grandson Jacob Tvaronaitis. Sylvia volunteered for 13 years at Elizabeth Green Elementary School, then worked for almost 40 years at Phelps Physical Therapy with her best friend Fran. Sylvia loved walking on the rocks in Cape Cod on family vacations, going to Whalers games, watching UCONN basketball, and going to the Bushnell Theater, Symphony and Ballet. A particular passion was growing flowers every summer and tomatoes for tomato and mayo sandwiches. Sylvia’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center and caring and supportive staff on CB2 in the Conklin Building.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Beth Alom Cemetery, 48 Allen Street, New Britain, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, C/O Hartford Hospital, 79 Retreat Ave, Hartford, CT 06106.
