Steven Messinger, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who loved connecting with people, passed away at his home in West Hartford, Connecticut, on July 16, 2026.Born in the Bronx, New York, Steven was a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He always dreamed of sitting in the Yankees broadcast booth and calling a game. He also enjoyed watching and playing tennis for many years and loved the spirit of competition. Steven began his career in retail as a stock boy and worked his way up to become a district manager. As a manager, he earned the respect and admiration of those who worked with him. He moved to West Hartford in 1976, where he built a life centered around his family and the relationships he cherished. Steven is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia Messinger; his loving daughter, Beth Katten, and her husband, Stuart; his devoted son, Richard Messinger, and his wife, Jamie; and his cherished grandchildren, Gary Katten, Dr. Samuel Katten, Charlie Messinger, and Jake Messinger. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, patriotism, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at The Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford, Connecticut 06117. For shiva arrangements, please contact the family.
