Stephen (Joseph) Cornfield

CORNFIELD, Stephen Joseph Cornfield, 72, of West Hartford, died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Aaron Fien and Sophia (Ofstein) Fien Cornfield. He was also predeceased by his adoptive father, the late Eugene Cornfield. He graduated from the University of Michigan and owned a wall covering business in West Hartford before he retired. He leaves his wife, Joan (Gould) Cornfield; his son, Gene Cornfield and his wife Gillian of Marblehead, MA; his daughter, Julie Cornfield Katz and her husband Jason of Hollywood, FL; three grandchildren, Jordan, Jaden and Jonas; his sister, Bernice Chorney of FL; and his dog, Corky. A devoted family man and loyal friend, his generosity, quiet strength, and sense of humor will be missed by the many who loved him. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. A memorial period will be observed at his home through Friday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O.
