Sonia (Wein) Cohn

COHN, Sonia “Sonny” (Wein) Cohn, 87, a longtime Coventry resident, died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the widow of Maury Cohn. Born in Portchester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Gertrude Wein. She was a member of Temple B’nai Israel of Willimantic. Sonia had a 30 plus year history of volunteering at Windham Community Memorial Hospital and served as president of the WCMH Hospital Auxillary; she was co-creator of the well-received children’s Hospital Tour program. Sonia also volunteered at the Windham Textile and History Museum. She leaves two sons, Ralph Cohn and his wife Miriam Levine of Brookline, MA, and Steve Cohn and his wife Laurie of Columbia; two granddaughters, Tonia Pitts and Shara Chamberlain; and a great-grandson, Avery. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Temple B’nai Israel Cemetery, Perkins Corner, Mansfield with Rabbi Jeremy Schwartz officiating.
