Sigmund (Bill) Bornstein, 83, entered into rest peaceably at his home in West Hartford on May 1, 2011. He was born on November 21, 1927 in Malden, MA, son of the late Max and Rose (Westerman) Bornstein. He was a US World War II and Korean War Navy Veteran. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University in 1951. He began his career with the Internal Revenue Service and worked for the accounting firms of Peat Marwick and most recently Harper & Whitfield in Farmington. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mollie (Hyman) Bornstein; sons Paul Bornstein and his wife Robin of West Hartford, and Philip Bornstein and his wife Beth of Simsbury, and four granddaughters: Kimberly, Katie, Emily and Allison. He also leaves a brother Elliott of Pembroke Pines, FL. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Herbert of Mansfield, MA.Throughout his life he was someone all could count on for his judgement and insight. He was a deeply devoted, beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather who all could depend on. His business clients always knew that they could look to him for advice and their relationships lasted many, many years. He set an example for what a husband, father, grandfather and business partner should be. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment following in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Jackson St. Extension, Avon. The family will receive relatives and friends at his home, 105 Orchard Rd., West Hartford, on Thursday following the funeral, 3 pm to 7 pm.
