Sidney Koplowitz

Sidney Koplowitz, 92, of Palm Beach, FL and East Lyme, CT, formerly of West Hartford, husband of the late Ruth (Soifer) Koplowitz died Wednesday, November 2, 2005. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Morris and Rachel (Gordon) Koplowitz. Mr. Koplowitz owned and operated Copley’s Uniform Shop in Hartford for 40 years. He was a former member of Beth El Temple, West Hartford, and a member of the Knights of Pythias. He leaves two daughters: Joan Bortman of Bloomfield and Jessica Buhler of Boca Raton, FL; four grandchildren: Dr. Scott Bortman and his wife Elaine, Charna Kaufman and her husband John, Kim Ayala and her husband Carlos, and Jeremy Buhler; and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Jerry Bortman and several sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. A Memorial period will be observed at the home of Charna and John Kaufman, 31 Hathaway Dr., West Hartford through Sunday evening.
