Shirley Seltzer, age 103, entered into rest on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford, on November 20, 1920, to Harry and Bertha Cohan. She later moved to West Hartford and graduated from William Hall High School and then went on to graduate from Temple University in Philadelphia with a Bachelor’s degree. Following graduation, Shirley worked as a Research Assistant on the Department F. Experimental Pathology at Temple Medical School. As the war progressed, she decided to join for the W.A.V.E.S She was stationed at the National Naval Medical Center in Port Hedland, Maryland. There she met Henry and was married for 71 years until his passing at the age of 105. Shirley moved to Evans, Georgia to be near her family and resided at the Brandon Wilde Life Care Community where she made many friends. She enjoyed years of playing bridge, bowling, golfing, and traveling in the U.S. and abroad. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Diane Levy, granddaughter Hilary Beler, and two great grandsons, Jacob and James Beler. Donations made be made in Shirley’s memory to Congregation Beth Israel, 707 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT 06119, or to any charity of one’s choosing.
