Sheila (Blumsack) Abell

Sheila (Blumsack) Abell, 71, of Butler Road, Manchester, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Chelsea, MA, she was the daughter of Anna (Sherman) Blumsack of West Hartford and the late Irving Blumsack. A nursing school graduate, she was a Registered Nurse. Sheila was an elementary school librarian for 25 years retiring in June of 2000. In honor of her retirement, the Waddell School in Manchester named the School Media Center after Sheila. She was a member of Temple Beth Sholom of Manchester, as well as the Temple?s Sisterhood; a member of Hadassah; of the Auxiliary of the Hebrew Home & Hospital; and she also was a volunteer for the Hartford Jewish Literacy Coalition. Besides her mother, she leaves her husband, Jerrold J. Abell; her son Ronald M. Abell and his wife Brenda of Southlake, TX; her daughter Lisa N. Krell and her husband Daniel of Brookeville, MD; her two grandchildren: Chelsea Abell and Ivy Lyn Krell; her brother, Joel Blumsack and his wife Judy of Sarasota, FL; and her nephew, Todd and his family. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her nephew, Craig Blumsack. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Temple Beth Sholom, 400 East Middle Turnpike, Manchester, with Rabbi Richard Plavin and Cantor Anita Schubert officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Beth Sholom Memorial Park, Manchester. Following the interment, a memorial period will be observed at The Residence Inn, 201 Hale Rd., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Sholom of Manchester or to the St. Francis Hospital Cancer Center, 95 Woodland St., Hartford 06105.
