Selma (Levine) Zorn

Selma (Levine) Zorn, 89 years of age, of West Hartford, CT, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1923, daughter of Phillip F. and Henrietta Alperin Levine, sister of Harry Levine (dec.). She was the loving wife of Bruce J. Zorn (dec.) for 62 years, mother of Francine Zorn Trachtenberg and her husband Stephen Joel Trachtenberg of Washington, DC, and Jonathan Zorn and his wife Jill B. Zorn of Columbia, CT. She was the loving grandmother of Adam Trachtenberg and his wife Beth Hondl, Ben Trachtenberg and his wife Joanna L. W. Trachtenberg, Abigail Zorn and Hannah Zorn; and proud great-grandmother of Akiva, Isaac, and Shoshana Trachtenberg. A graduate of Erasmus Hall High School, she was raised and lived in her beloved Brooklyn for over sixty years. An inventive weaver, seamstress and ceramicist, Selma was happiest working with her hands each day. She reached out to those who were sick and in need, often using her crafting skills to help others. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow immediately at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive visitors at the home of Selma Zorn in West Hartford on Sunday from noon to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
