Selma (Levy) Kaufman

Selma (Levy) Kaufman, 76, of North Main St., West Hartford, died Saturday, December 27, 2008. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Zara (Wise) Levy. A life long resident of West Hartford, Selma was a Hall High School graduate, class of 1951 and was chosen class socialite’. She was a member of the West Hartford Republican Town Committee and was Republican Registrar of Voters for 17 years. A board member of the Jewish Association for Community Living, Selma was also a member of Congregation Beth Israel of West Hartford and it’s Sisterhood. She leaves two sons: Michael Kaufman of West Hartford, and Dr. Ronald Kaufman, Jr. and his wife Janet Holop-Kaufman of Slingerlands, NY; and four grandchildren: Anna, Lauren, and Eric Kaufman of Slingerlands, NY, and Zoe Kaufman of West Hartford. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Ward and Affleck Streets., Hartford. A memorial service will be observed at her home, 132 North Main St., West Hartford, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
