Saunder Weinstein

Saunder Weinstein, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife Elaine. Saunder was the son of the late Anna and Samuel Weinstein. He grew up in Hartford where he attended Weaver High School. He received his accounting degree from the University of Hartford. Saunder was the managing partner and a CPA in the accounting firm of Weinstein, Schwartz, and Pincus.

Saunder and Elaine were married for 63 years. The family they created was their greatest source of pride and they loved showering them with affection. They also found great happiness in their pursuits as world travelers.

Saunder will be dearly missed by his sister Francis Prague of South Windsor, sister-in-law Rosalind Friedland of West Hartford, his devoted children Craig Weinstein and his partner Susan Kurtis of West Hartford, Peter Weinstein and his wife Donna of Wethersfield, Ellen Gold and her husband Steven of Redding and Paul Weinstein and his spouse Mike Rauske of Des Moines IA. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Paula Weinstein. Saunder also leaves his loving grandchildren Ross Weinstein and his wife Louise, Dana Colas and her husband Jeremy, Michael and Adam Weinstein, Samuel and Benjamin Gold as well as his great grandchildren Zoe, Hudson, and Carter Colas, and Ethan Weinstein.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Sunday, August 19 at 11 AM, at Beth Hillel Cemetery, 15 Wolcott Road, East Granby CT. Services will be followed by a meal of condolence at the home of his son Craig, 51 Avondale Road, West Hartford CT. Shiva will be observed at Craig’s home on Sunday evening with Minyan at 7 PM and Monday evening with Minyan at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford, CT 06117 or a charity of your choice.
