Sandra (Vigder) Maltz was born in Canton, OH and was raised in Akron, OH. Sandra attended Ohio State University where she met her husband, Dr. Freeman Maltz, who predeceased her in 2007. There was mutual adoration for each other and they were inseparable for 56 years. For eight years, Sandra taught middle school until she worked alongside her husband as the office manager of his dental practice for many years. This earned her the name “Handy Sandy.” For recreation, Sandra was an avid tennis player and golfer and greatly enjoyed playing these sports with her husband. She also delighted in entertaining, had an admirable sense of style and was an eternal optimist. Sandra and Freeman relocated from Ohio to Suffield in 1982. Nothing was more important or dear to her than her family. She was a guiding light. Sandra was devoted to her two daughters, Barbara (and Robert) Namerow of West Hartford, and Janis (and Michael) Green of Longmeadow, MA; and her four grandchildren: Taylar and Kendyl Green and Derek and Blake Namerow. A brother, Bertram Vigder, predeceased her in 1999. Sandra is a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority and was an active alumna on the Ohio State University campus. She is also a member of Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford and was a longtime member of Crestview Country Club. A rare gem, Sandra will be greatly missed. There will be a private funeral and burial on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Congregation Beth Israel Cemetery in Avon. Friends may call following the funeral from 2-5 p.m. at 395 Porter Lake Drive #214 in Longmeadow, MA.
