GREEN, Sally (Chorches) Sally (Chorches) Green, 99 years of age, of West Hartford died Sunday, (October 11, 2009). She was the widow of Morris Green. Born in Belarus, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Marsha (Waldorf) Chorches. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel of West Hartford. She leaves her son, Franklin L. Green and his wife Joan Shapiro Green of New York, N.Y.; a brother Leon Chorches and his wife Phyllis of Vernon; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Green and his wife Amy von Sydow Green and Julia Green and her husband Andrew Shane, and three great-granddaughters, Kitty Green, Stella Green and Mona Shane. She was predeceased by her sisters Ida Gold and Rose Gold. Sally was raised on a farm in Tolland, where from her beloved mother she learned cooking and hospitality, two hallmarks of her life. She graduated first in her class from Rockville High School, and throughout the years her practicality and empathy were a source of counsel to family and friends. She was an attractive person and personality and shared a wonderful marriage of 57 years. She did everything she could to advance the comfort and well-being of her family, who in turn celebrate her long, healthy and loving life. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 13 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Stephen Fuchs officiating. Interment will follow at Share Torah Cemetery, Hartford. The family will sit shiva at the home of Franklin and Joan Green in Manhattan on Wednesday, October 14, and Thursday, October 15. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Council of Jewish Women, New York Section, 820 Second Avenue, New York, NY 10017.
