Roslyn (Millstein) Elston

Roslyn Millstein Elston, of Dayville, formerly of West Hartford, passed away peacefully at her
home on Alexander’s Lake.
Born in Hartford on November 7, 1924, Roslyn was the daughter of Barney and Monya Millstein,
the youngest of three children.
She worked various jobs from the age of 16 until she met Leon Elson, the love of her life; they
married in 1948. Roslyn was a stay-at-home mom, raising two daughters, and family was the
most important aspect of her life.
The Elstons were among the founding families of Congregation B’nai Sholom in Newington,
where Roslyn sang in the choir and was active in the Sisterhood and other temple activities.
She loved working with her daughter, Sari, at Lilium Florist, processing flowers, making
sandwiches for designers and staff, doing clean-up, and most of all, entertaining and kibitzing
with the customers.
She is survived by a daughter, Sari M. Elston-Trzepacz; son-in-law Merrill Katz, and
grandchildren Jamie (Barnaby) and Mark (Renee), as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband, Leon; her daughter, Jody Katz; son-in-law Paul Trzepacz;
brother, Jack Millstein; and sister, Miriam Wolf.
She is lovingly remembered by family and friends for her independent spirit, strong personality,
love, caring, kindness, and zest for life. Sincerest thanks to the care ladies who helped Roslyn
through her illness with comfort, support, and compassion.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 12 at 11 a.m. at the Congregation B’nai
Sholom Cemetery (Jordan Lane Extension, Wethersfield). Weinstein Mortuary in Hartford is
responsible for interment.
