Rose (Goldfarb) Silver

Rose (Goldfarb) Silver of West Hartford, wife of Morris D. “Moe” Silver departed this life on Thursday (August 4, 2005) at Hartford Hospital. Rose was born in Poland on August 29, 1920 to the late Meyer and Sarah (Gopin) Goldfarb. She came to Hartford as a young girl, after having lived in Toronto, Canada and Long Island, NY; and was a resident of West Hartford for the past 50 years. Rose graduated from Weaver High School in 1937. She was a member of the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford and its Sisterhood organization. Rose’s joy was giving to and helping others; and to that end she was an active, life member, and volunteer of many organizations, including Women’s American ORT, Hadassah, Mended Hearts and The Hebrew Home and Hospital Auxiliary. She will be especially remembered for her 35 plus years of volunteer work at The Hebrew Home and Hospital where she was a former recipient of the Josephine H. Gruenberg Outstanding Volunteer Award. In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Barry J. Silver and Cynthia Hoffman of Newington, Carl D. Silver of Bloomfield, John B. Silver of San Clemente, CA and Tim and Cheryl Silver of South Windsor; her grandchildren, Eric and Shelly Silver, Jaime and Kristen Silver, Jason and Dawn Silver, Rachel Singer, Daniel Silver, Adam Silver, Ashley Erickson, Kimberly Silver and Kelsey Silver; and her Great Grandchildren, Riley, Cameron and Cooper. Also, her brothers, Harry E. Goldfarb of Boca Raton, FL, Benjamin S. and his wife, Dorothy Goldfarb of West Hartford; her sister, Ida G. Shoor of West Hartford; and her sisters-in-law, Connie Apter of Bethesda, MD, and Frances Dubrow of Meriden, also Sally Silver, Joy Erickson. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 7, at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of the Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford, with Rabbi David Small and Cantor Sanford Cohn officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. The family will receive relatives and friends following the interment at 99 Parsons Drive, West Hartford.
