Rosalind (Fagen) Gold

Rosalind Fagen Gold, a longtime resident of West Hartford, died February 7, 2012 at the age of 87. Mrs. Gold was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and lived in the Chicago area until she moved to West Hartford in 1962. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Louis Gold. Mrs. Gold is survived by her son Kenneth Kaufman and her daughter-in-law Lauren Weisberg Kaufman, of Farmington, and by her beloved grandchildren, Stephanie Kaufman of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Eric Kaufman of New York City. Rosalind Gold spent many years working in fashion as a buyer for Allied Stores in Chicago, and later at G. Fox in Hartford. She also ran the fashion shows and served as special events coordinator for Lord & Taylor in West Hartford. Over her many years in West Hartford, she was an active volunteer in the Greater Hartford community. She served on the boards of the Connecticut Opera Guild and the Charter Oak Cultural Center and volunteered at the Noah Webster House, the UCONN Medical Center Gift Shop, the JCC Book Festival and as a speaker on fashion and senior dating. She was also an active member of Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford and organized outings and speakers for the seniors program. But her favorite activities involved children, as a baby cuddler in the neo-natal unit at UConn Medical Center and as a literacy volunteer in the New Britain Public Schools. Roz also loved to travel. She was an active participant in Elder Hostel programs throughout the United States and traveled to numerous foreign countries. She loved learning and never stopped taking courses at area colleges and universities. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on April 15, 2012 at Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Funeral arrangements are being made through Weinstein Mortuary for burial at Shalom Cemetery in Chicago on February 20.
