Robert Henry Kalechman

Robert Henry Kalechman, 93, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026. Born on February 19, 1933, in Hartford, Connecticut, Robert lived a long and proud life defined by service, patriotism, and deep devotion to his family and community.

Robert was formerly of Simsbury, Connecticut, and recently moved to Sebastian, Florida, to live with his family. A proud American who deeply loved his country, he honorably served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and later continued his military career, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. His commitment to service extended well beyond his military years. He worked for NBC and faithfully served as a Constable for the Town of West Hartford. He was also active in local politics, always taking a strong interest in civic affairs and the future of his community.

Robert was predeceased by his wife of 52 years and the love of his life, Joan

Kalechman; his parents, Nathan Kalechman and Florence (Carter) Kalechman; and his sister, Francis Kalechman May.

He is survived by his beloved son, Abraham Kalechman, and his loving daughter-in-law, Sabrina Kalechman, with whom he shared a close and special bond; his cherished grandchildren, Nathan Kalechman and Gianna Kalechman; his sister, Natalie Spector; his nephew, Scott; and his nieces, Debbie and Rebecca. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, honor, patriotism, and unwavering love for his family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hartford City Lodge, Tower Avenue, Hartford, Connecticut. Rabbi M. Samuels will officiate. Robert will be laid to rest following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society at Navy-Marine Corps

Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary of Hartford, Connecticut. The family extends special thanks to Lowther Family Mortuary in Vero Beach, Florida, and heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate CNA and nursing staff of the VNA of the Treasure Coast for their exceptional care and kindness.
