Renee Sacksman, 81, of Buckingham Estates in Glastonbury, died Friday (October 10, 2008) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in New York City, she lived in Connecticut for 47 years. As a member and former President of N.C.J.W., Renee was active in various community programs in Danbury, particularly those benefiting children. After a long career in sales and advertising, Renee, at the age of 70, combined her passion and compassion for people by establishing the first Women’s Health Boutique in CT serving women with special health needs. She was a voracious reader, and had a life long interest in arts, culture, politics, and community service. Renee was a selfless individual whose greatest joy was giving to others. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Billy. She was a truly extraordinary and proud mother and grandmother, and leaves behind wonderful memories for her cherished children Sandi and Jeff Garfield of Manchester and Paul and Lisa Sacksman of West Nyack, NY; her adored grandaughter, Melinda Garfield of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Ronald Rothenberg and wife Rona of Monroe, NY and Martin Rothenberg and wife Estelle of Del Ray, FL; a brother-in-law Stanley Sacksman of The Bronx, NY. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, and many dear and special friends. Special thanks to the caring hospice and nursing staffs at Manchester Memorial Hospital and to all of the attentive and loving staff at Buckingham Estates. The family would like to express a special thank you to our amazing Dee whose boundless joy and energy brought smiles to Renee’s face, and who made the last two years of her life a safe and warm journey.
