Renee (Kotik) Rustin, 77, of Key Biscayne, FL and formerly of Avon and West Hartford, CT, died peacefully in her home on August 31, 2012 after a valiant struggle against cancer. She was born in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Rose and Stanley (Bob) Kotik. Renee is survived by her adoring husband Lawrence Rustin and six loving children, Peter Rustin and daughter-in-law Marni Diamond (Pacific Palisades, CA), Howard Levenson (Nashville, TN), Heidi Rustin and son-in-law Mark Goldman (New Rochelle, NY), Ted Levenson and son-in-law Vince Cuticello (New York, NY), Robert Levenson (Peabody, MA) and Beth Rustin and son-in-law Lee Stettner (New York, NY). She was a spectacular “Nana” to her eight grandchildren, Julia and Hallie Goldman, Jacob Levenson, Diana and Abby Stettner, Jack Levenson and Rebecca and Noa Diamond. She is also survived by her sister Ginger Horton (Old Saybrook, CT), and two nieces, Tory Horton Bell and her husband Greg Bell (Old Saybrook, CT) and Taryn Horton Sasser and her husband Dave Sasser (Fort Myers, FL). Funeral is to be held on September 5, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT, 06105 with Rabbi David J. Small and Rabbi Gerald B. Zelermyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. Following interment, the family will receive friends for Shiva at the home of Joel and Judy Weisman at 25 Forest Hills Drive, West Hartford, CT 06117. A memorial service will be held in Miami, FL at a later date.
