Rebecca Salituro

Rebecca (Becky) Salituro of West Hertford died Friday at Hartford Hospital after a long illness. She was 38.

Becky has been described by so many of her family and friends as a light of positivity who brought out the best in others with a personality that naturally radiated goodness, happiness and fun.

She was truly inspirational as someone who suffered from chronic Lyme Disease and its complications, but never let that stop her from making her mark in her studies and interactions with anyone she met along the way.

She was a 2006 graduate of Hall High School in West Hartford, where she excelled as a student and singer and in theater productions.

Her theater career blossomed earlier at the Jewish Community Center in West Hartford, where among many roles she starred as Sandy in Grease, Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz and Mazzie in The Boyfriend. She went on to study Theater at Central Connecticut State University, where upon graduation in 2012, she was named CCSU drama student of the year. At CCSU, she had many significant roles including playing Mother Teresa.

Although illness affected her post-graduation, she was in the process of getting her Master’s Degree in Drama Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., where in 2025 she had a 10-week internship at Camp Chi, a Jewish Summer Camp in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., During that time, she demonstrated her love of working with children. Her classmates and professors at Lesley considered her one of a kind because of her thirst for knowledge and compassion for others and her sense of humor, which made others gravitate to her.

Becky is survived by her parents, Laura and Chuck Salituro of West Hartford, and a younger brother, Aaron Salituro, of San Antonio, Texas, whom she often described as “the best brother ever and my best friend.”

She also is survived three aunts and four uncles in her native Wisconsin and seven first cousins that she loved dearly.

She was proceeded in death by her two sets of grandparents, Martin and Shirley Raffe of Glendale, Wis. and Armando and Lorraine Salituro of Kenosha, Wis.

She was schooled in Judaism at Beth Israel synagogue in West Hartford and had great love for Judaism and Israel, even more so after the attacks of Oct. 7th, 2023, in part because Oct. 7th is her birthday.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 10:30 A.M. at Congregational Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT. A private burial will take place on Friday in Milwaukee, WI. 

The family asks donations be made in Becky’s name to the Jewish National Fund.
