Ralph Seltzer

Ralph Seltzer, 87 years of age, of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of West Hartford, CT, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017. He was the beloved husband, for 65 years, of Shirley (Sowalsky) Seltzer of Delray Beach, FL. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Jack and Sarah (Lassman) Seltzer. Ralph was a co-owner of the Crown Supermarket for over 55 years and was beloved by employees and customers, especially children. He served as the “face” of the Crown for decades. He loved golf, music, the saxophone, good food, his evening drink, all things Jewish and especially his family.

Ralph is survived by his sons, Mark J. Seltzer and his wife, Jaime, of West Hartford, CT, Steven P. Seltzer and his wife, Karen, of Port Washington, NY, and David A. Seltzer of Bethesda, MD; his daughter, Linda Winick and her husband, Jeffrey, of West Hartford, CT; his beloved grandchildren; Julie and Daniel Winick, Emily Winick, Amanda and Aaron Katzman, Matthew, Melissa, Alison, Lauren, Adam and Elyssa Seltzer and his two great grandchildren, Molly Katzman and Jordan Winick. He also leaves nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Nathan Seltzer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in the Wolkowysker Society Cemetery, 401 Tower Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Immediately following the Interment, the family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Jaime and Mark Seltzer, 10 Amanda Lane, West Hartford, CT. through 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mandell JCC (335 Blmfld Ave. WH CT 06117), Hebrew Senior Care Fdtn.
