Phyllis (Levin) Ziplow

Phyllis (Levin) Ziplow, 70, of Bloomfield, formerly of West Hartford, wife of the late Earle S. Ziplow passed away Wednesday, (August 31, 2005) at the Hebrew Home and Hospital in West Hartford. She was born in Waterbury, to the late Louis and Lillian (Freeman) Levin. She was predeceased by a son, Howard Ziplow. Phyllis was a graduate of Connecticut College. She was an active volunteer for many causes including the Women’s Auxiliary of the Hebrew Home and the American Cancer Society. In her later years, she was a much beloved substitute teacher for the West Hartford Public School System. Above all, Phyllis’s greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Sherri Ziplow of Bloomfield; her son and daughter in-law, Jeffrey and Jill Ziplow of West Hartford, and their children, Scott, David and Andrew; her daughter in-law Patricia Ziplow of Syosset, NY, and her children Jason and Jennifer; her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Gloria Levin of Simsbury; her sister-in -law and brother-in-law, Susan and Paul Finkle of Farmington; many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Friday, September 2, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington, Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi Stephen Fuchs officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery in Avon. The family will receive visitors at the home of Jeffrey Ziplow, 55 Arlen Way, West Hartford through Sunday evening.
