Philip D. Rosin 92 was born in Hartford November 13, 1919 to Morris and Minnie (Rosenbaum ) Rosin. After graduating from Weaver High School he worked at Pratt and Whitney. During WW2 he served in the Army Air Force as a military policeman. After the war Philip traveled to California and Kansas City where he enrolled in watchmaking school. In August 1951 Philip and a bunch of boyhood friends went to the New York Catskills for a week vacation. There he met Nathalie, who was vacationing with her girlfriends. By the end of the week they were engaged. Philip and Nathalie were married January 13, 1952, four months later. A loving relationship that has lasted over sixty years. In 1954 Philip along with Natalie opened Philip David Jewelers in West Hartford. For decades they ran the store together. His family business still thrives today. Philip loved life. He enjoyed the seasons in New England and what came with them: mowing the lawn, working in the yard. He was a graceful and terrific swimmer, going to Ocean Beach in New London as a kid and later in life to his cottage in Rhode Island. Playing and body surfing with his children and grandchildren in the water. Relaxing at the beach with Nathalie after his retirement. It was the best to swim around and play in the water with our Dad. Physically strong and with an inner strength our husband - dad - uncle - grandfather was a loving, wise, gentle, handsome, kind, wonderful person. Philip’s life was one of many accomplishments and loving relationships. He will be so missed. He was predeceased by his sister Muriel who passed September 11, 2011 and his brother Al , April 29, 2012, just one day apart. He is survived by his wife Nathalie, daughter Pamela, son Mitchell and daughter-in-law Nadine. As well as grandsons Daniel, Matthew, Benjamin. The family would like to thank Anne, Polly and Liz at the P.D. Dialysis Unit Hartford Hospital who loved Philip also and the caring staff at Apple Rehab in Rocky Hill. There will be a graveside service at 1:00 pm TODAY, Wednesday May 2nd at Beth Israel Cemetery, Jackson Street Extension, Avon, CT. The family will sit shiva on Wednesday evening beginning at 5pm at the home of Mitchell and Nadine Rosin, 92 Highwood Rd., West Hartford. Arrangements entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary.
