Peter (M.) Elovich

Peter M. Elovich, 59, of Canton, died on Sunday, May 5, of a ruptured brain aneurysm. Predeceased by parents Lawrence Elovich and Mavis June Riner, Peter is survived by siblings Steven Elovich, Liza Seefahrt and Nancy Wilder of Connecticut, and Randy Elovich (Patty) of Minnesota, niece Dr. Siara Zee Elovich, and nephew Zach Stavnezer. Peter grew up in Bloomfield, graduated from Bloomfield High School, and went on to study computer programming at CPI and Tunxis Community College. He retired several years ago after a lengthy career in programming at The Hartford. Peter was pursuing a second career as an engraver, and was a member of the Firearms Engravers Guild of America and a lifetime member of the Northeast Cutlery Collectors Association. He was a passionate motorcyclist and was a motorcycle safety instructor in the DOT Connecticut Rider Education Program, recently donating his time to teach motorcycle safety to veterans. An ardent competitor, Peter was an accomplished pool player who relished a good victory. He regularly enjoyed hiking, bicycling, kayaking, windsurfing and skiing. He was a baking enthusiast, making awesome chocolate chip cookies and even developing his own recipe for the now legendary Fudge-Full Peanut Butter Bars. Peter was fortunate to have been doing what he loved most riding his motorcycle to the last conscious moments of his life, and he died peacefully, surrounded by his siblings. Our sincere thanks to those who rendered aid and summoned assistance. Though Peter will be missed in our lives, he lives forever in our hearts. Memorial service will be private. As Peter was a lifelong animal lover, memorials are preferred to animal charities.
