Pauline (Paula) Illions, 82, of Bloomfield, died peacefully Sunday (April 30, 2006) at home with her family at her side. Born in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Max and Freda Block and the sister of the late Adele Mittman. Though she spent her girlhood in Allentown, she met and fell in love with a young soldier stationed abroad during WWII after a long courtship conducted entirely though the mail. After the war, they married and moved to his home in Brooklyn, NY. They later settled in New Hyde Park, NY on Long Island, where they raised their two daughters. Pauline was a loving wife, a devoted mother a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook, an excellent homemaker, and a brilliant teller of stories. She spent many years working side by side with her husband, a CPA, as his bookkeeper. At retirement, they split their time between Delray Beach, FL, and Bloomfield. Pauline is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Louis Illions, her dear sister, Lillian Glickman of Allentown, PA, her two loving daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and David Brown of West Hartford, Diane and Harvey Morrow of New Hyde Park, NY, her adored (and adoring) grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa Brown and Daniel Handler, Seth and Betsy Brown, Eric and Maria Brown, Jennifer Morrow and Joshua Morrow, her great-grandchildren Otto Handler, Ella Brown and Isabel Brown, and her dear companion and aide, Althea Campbell. She will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler officiating. Internment will follow in the Mount Ararat Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. Shiva will be observed beginning on Wednesday, May 3rd at the home of Barbara and David Brown in West Hartford.
