Ora Weiner of Simsbury CT, a woman whose name was as bright as her personality, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 73. She was the vibrant heart of her family and a friend to anyone she encountered.
Born on October 26, 1952, to Faye and Asher Grosbard, Ora had a natural gift for connection. She famously introduced herself by saying, "My name is Ora... O-R-A... but I have an 'Aura' about me." It was the perfect description; she possessed a magnetic energy and was never too shy to strike up a conversation. Whether in a waiting room or a store, Ora would introduce herself to anyone, leaving an impression wherever she went.
As the devoted wife of the late Robert Weiner, Ora’s life was one of movement and adaptation. Robert’s career took the family to many different places, but Ora had a gift for turning every new house into a home and every new town into a community of friends. While she wore many hats, her most cherished role was that of a mother. She poured her entire heart into raising her children, finding her greatest rewards in the simple, beautiful chaos of family life.
Ora was the quintessential Jewish mother and grandmother—vibrant, protective, and endlessly giving. She found genuine happiness in the simple things: an afternoon at the movies, a lively game of Bingo, or a day spent shopping. Gift-giving was her specialty; seeing someone’s face light up when they opened something she had chosen for them brought her immense joy.
Above all, Ora loved being surrounded by her family. She looked forward to every family dinner. For Ora, it wasn’t about who was hosting, but simply that everyone was together. While she will be deeply missed, her family will find comfort in her famous chicken noodle soup; it remains a warm reminder of her care that they will cherish forever.
She was a pillar of strength and kindness, and her family knew they could always count on her for help, no matter the circumstance.
Ora was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert, and her parents, Faye and Asher. Her legacy of warmth lives on through her daughter, Lisa Lifhits, and son-in-law Greg; her son, Brian Weiner, and daughter-in-law Michelle; her sister, Rebecca, and brother-in-law Harry; and her niece, Michele. She was the world’s most doting grandmother to Emma Lifhits, Elle and Alexa Weiner, who were her greatest pride and joy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ora’s memory to the Jewish National Fund (JNF), a cause that honors her heritage and her love for Israel.
