Naomi Bracha Weinberg Lindenthal, the consummate Rebbetzin, widow of Rabbi Haskel Lindenthal, died Thursday evening, September 3, 2009, after the most valiant fight with Alzheimer?s Disease. Born in Jerusalem, five months after the sudden death of her father, she was the daughter of Rachel Freedman Weinberg and Abraham Weinberg, and the youngest, and last surviving of ten siblings. Mrs. Lindenthal was educated in the Evelina deRothschild School and the Jerusalem Girls’ College. She was also a member of HaPoel, a sports organization that met at the Jerusalem YMCA. In 1938, she met her husband while attending the radio broadcast of a concert in Jerusalem conducted by Arturo Toscanini. Mrs. Lindenthal taught first grade Hebrew School at the Teferes Israel Synagogue for 37 years, using as her pointer a stick famously named “Oscar”. Naomi and the Rabbi were married for 69 years. Rabbi Lindenthal died in 2008. For 71 years Mrs. Lindenthal was rushed every Friday, but never failed to light Sabbath candles exactly on time, including last Friday night. Mrs. Lindenthal leaves three children: Dr. Jacob Lindenthal and Lorelle Michelson, MD of New Jersey, Rachel D. Lindenthal of Manhattan, and Harold Lindenthal of Hartford. The funeral took place before Shabbos on Friday, graveside at Teferes Israel cemetery. Due to the closing of her house on King Philip Drive, West Hartford, shiva is being observed by Jacob at 770 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ, by Rachel at 2025 Broadway, NYC, and Harold at 31 Woodland Street, Hartford.
