Myra Moskowitz, 85 years of age, of Bristol, was born and raised in Flushing, NY. She moved to Bristol with her family in the late 1950’s. Her parents were Irving and Julia Sherman and she was one of four siblings. A long time member of Beth Israel Synagogue, Bristol, she served as president of its Sisterhood, and also president of Hadassah. She became a member of the Kol Ami Synagogue in Cheshire upon the merger of the two congregations. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, George; her two sons: Mark Moskowitz, and Michael Moskowitz and his wife Nancy; four grandchildren: Matthew Moskowitz and his wife Jennifer, Drs. Craig and Jaime Moskowitz, Leisa Moskowitz, and Sheila Moskowitz; and her brother Herbert Sherman and his wife Janet. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two younger sisters: Rhoda Bennett, and Dorothy Reif. She was also predeceased by her daughter Gayle Moskowitz and her daughter-in-law Annie Moskowitz. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment following at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Lake Ave., Bristol. A memorial period will be observed at 65 Hollyberry Road, Bristol from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, November 24th and Sunday, November 25th.
