Muriel "Mim" (G.) Schenker

Muriel “Mim” G. Schenker of Avon, CT, formerly of West Hartford and Farmington, passed away on Monday, November 29. Born in Hartford, February 9, 1919, she was the daughter of Julius and Eva (Beizer) Gold. She graduated from William Hall High School and the Guggenheim School of Dental Hygiene, working in the Hartford area as a dental hygienist. During World War II she volunteered at the Hartford draft board, and after the war she was, with her late husband, Morton L. Schenker, a founding member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford; she was also a long time member of Hadassah. She was the mother of Linda C. Schenker and Michael S. Schenker, and his wife, Susan N. Schenker; Nana to Lauren and Sandy Wolfson, Jonathan and Alyson Schenker, and Caryn and Adam Solomon; she was the great-grandmother of Noah, Zachary, and Lindsay Solomon, Avi Schenker, and Harper and Asher Wolfson. She was predeceased by her sisters, Harriet Potoff and Janet Zieky. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 30 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. The family will receive relatives and friends after the funeral at the home of Michael and Susan Schenker, Ashton Circle, Simsbury and shiva will be observed on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael and Susan Schenker Endowment Fund, Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave., West Hartford 06117 or to Foodshare, 450 Woodland Ave., Bloomfield 06002.
