Morton (H.) Stein

Morton H. Stein, 75, of Foster, RI, formerly of West Hartford, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Isidor and Ida (Giber) Stein. Morton retired in 1992 after 33 years with United Technologies. He leaves his devoted wife of 51 years, Deborah Miller-Stein; his children Sevorah Stein, Roberta Stein Duhamel and her husband Raymond, and Mark Stein, and his three beloved granddaughters, who were the light of his life. A kind and caring man, Mort was the best husband, father, Zaida and friend anyone could want. He also volunteered countless hours as an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 20 years, retiring as Vice Captain of his division, being only the second person in CT to have earned the AUXOP device, reporting directly to the Commandant of the Coast Guard. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 28, 2012 at United Synagogues of Greater Hartford Memorial Park, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. The family will welcome visitors to their home at 144 S. Killingly Rd., Foster, RI 02825 on Sunday, December 30th from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Boston or The American Heart Association .
