Mollie Levine Gross, 91 years of age, of Greenwich Farms, Warwick, RI, formerly of West Hartford, CT, died peacefully on June 6, 2010 at the Sunny View Nursing Home. Born in Ellington, she was the daughter of Samuel and Annie (Norman) Levine. She was a graduate of the Teachers College of CT. Mollie was an assistant buyer for the former G. Fox & Co. before working as a teacher, becoming the Director of the Emanuel Synagogue Nursery School for 20 years. After her retirement she worked for Neighborcare at the Bugbee School, serving local children. She was the President of the Emanuel Synagogue Sisterhood for three terms and co-president of the P.T.O. for 3 years. She was a Chaya O’Lum award winner and cited as a Teacher of the Year. Mollie was the loving wife of George Leonard Gross (deceased), and the beloved mother of Daniel C. Gross (deceased), and Sharon Gross Hoffman of East Greenwich, RI and her fiance, Robert Miles. She was the grandmother of five, including Aaron and Benjamin Hoffman of East Greenwich, RI, and Adam Gross, Emily Bessey and Karen Gross, all of TX. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Skylar Gross and Doris Bessey of TX. She also leaves many caring friends. Funeral services to be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. Shiva will be held at the home of Sharon G. Hoffman on June 9th and 10th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the non-profit agency, Mazon, dedicated to alleviating hunger amongst all people at www.mazon.org.
