Miriam Selman

Miriam Selman, a long-time resident of Bloomfield, CT, died Friday, the 17th of June at Saint Mary Home in West Hartford, CT. She was married to the late Leonard Selman for 34 years. Born in 1931 in New York City, Miriam received a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University and Master’s degree from the University of Saint Joseph.
Miriam was a physical therapist for many years, ultimately leading the rehabilitation center at Saint Mary Home until she retired in 1996.
In addition to her career, she was a faculty member at Quinnipiac University, and a mentor to many upcoming physical therapists. Miriam loved good food, her family, and socializing. She had a smile that could light up a room. She is survived by her four children; Jan Sack, Beth Crookham, Jackie Crute, and John Selman; six grandchildren; Lindsey Keegan, Kari Sack, Benjamin Crookham, Sydney Crute, Mali Selman, and Jack Selman; and a brother, Howard Portnoy.
