Miriam Katz

KATZ, Miriam (Miriam Kaufman) 102, passed away on Febuary 19, 2026 in Amherst, MA. She was born on December 16, 1923 in Hartford CT. Her loving husband David, of 63 years, predeceased her. Miriam (Mim) is survived by her sons Stuart and Jonathan (wife Dale).

Mim was a very strong person and in her teens took care of her sick mother and raised her younger sister Arlene, who had polio. She loved learning, reading the New York Times and attending the Hartford Stage.

Mim received tremendous joy from her granddaughter Rebecca, husband Mac and great-grandsons Tommy and Jude who she loved deeply.

She was known for her scrumptious matzoh ball soup, assorted pickups and holiday meals. She lived in her Bloomfield, CT home until the age of 97 when she moved to Lathrop Independent Living Community. Mim made many new friendships at Lathrop and loved her life there.

There will be a private burial. Donations may be sent to Seeds of Peace or Doctors Without Borders.
