Michael (M.) Kaufmann

Michael M. Kaufmann, P.E. 75 years of age, of West Hartford, CT, died Saturday, July 16, 2016. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Bernard and Betty (Lifland) Kaufmann. Michael graduated from WPI in Massachusetts with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and spent his career working in the engineering field. Before retiring he ran his own Forensic Engineering Company, Kaufmann Consulting Engineering P.C.. He was a US Army veteran. Michael also was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, as a Leader and District Executive in Nassau County, New York. As a boy he earned the rank of Eagle Scout with palms and as an adult leader he was awarded the Silver Beaver. He leaves his wife, Frances (Hymans) Kaufmann; his son, Alan Kaufmann and his wife Melinda of West Hartford, CT; his daughter, Stephanie Zangwill and her husband Leonard of Glenside PA, his brothers, Barry Kaufmann and his wife Lilly of Tampa, FL, Howard Kaufmann and his wife Beverly of Jacksonville, FL, and Stephen Kaufmann and his wife Judy of Charlotte, NC; and his grandchildren Marissa, Branden and David.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Wellwood Cemetery, 1400 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon, NY. Shiva will be observed starting Wednesday at 118 Lawler Rd., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice .
