Matilde A. Bolton died on September 12, 2026, after a long illness. She was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1935. Matilde was a long time Spanish teacher in the Greater Hartford area. A lifelong lover of languages, she was fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Judeo-Spanish. Education was very important to Matilde, and she returned to Trinity College in Hartford for her master's degree in Spanish literature after having her three children—the youngest was a newborn.
Matilde had a beautiful voice and loved singing in Spanish and Judeo-Spanish. She and her husband, K. Harold Bolton, were married for 42 years. She spent her last years at Hebrew Senior Living in Boston.
She is survived by her three children, Judy Bolton-Fasman (Ken Fasman), Carol Bolton Kappel (Jonathan Kappel) both of Boston, and John I. Bolton of Westport. She also leaves four grandchildren.
