Mary (Hyman) Zachs

ZACHS, Mary (Hyman) Zachs, 97, of West Hartford, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Hebrew Home & Hospital. She was the widow of Edward Zachs. Born in Monticello, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harris and Tillie Hyman. She was a supporter of and contributor to many philanthropic organizations. She leaves her son, Theodore L. Zachs and his wife Elaine of West Hartford; her daughter, Susan Burr of Rocky Hill; her son-in-law, Dr. Morton Grosser; six grandchildren, Dr. Todd Zachs and his wife Barbara, Jed Zachs and his wife Brenda, Ross Zachs and his partner Michael Miller, Adam Grosser and his wife Sher, Scott Burr and his wife Jacqueline, and Keith Burr; and eight great-grandchildren, Daniel, Samantha, Gordon, and Kyle Zachs, Shannon and Jonathan Burr, and Gabrielle and Jordan Grosser . She was predeceased by her daughter Janet Grosser. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. Shiva will be observed at the home of her son, 26 Hamlin Dr., West Hartford with services at 7:00 pm.
