Marvin L. Smernoff of Bloomfield, formerly of New Haven, died on February 3, 2015 at the age of 71 after a courageous battle with cancer. Marvin was the beloved husband of 46 years and best friend of Ina Kaplan Smernoff. He was the son of the late Robert and Ida (Goldblatt) Smernoff. He was a graduate of the UCONN School of Business and was currently the Chief Administrative Officer of Workers Compensation of the State of CT. He leaves his son Robert Smernoff and his fiance Carrie Flannery and his beloved grandson Ian. He also leaves his brother-in-law Mark and Sandy Kaplan as well as many special relatives, friends and co-workers. Marvin was an avid sports fan who particularly loved his UCONN Huskies and NY Giants. We would like to thank all the medical and service staff who helped Marvin over this past year. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi Dena Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 15 Wolcott Road, East Granby. Following the Internment, the family will receive guests at The Greens at Gillette Ridge Clubhouse, Bay Hill Road, Bloomfield until 7:00pm.
