Marvin I. Cohn, 78, formerly of Newington, CT, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Hospice Atlanta in Georgia. Born on May 31, 1939, in Hartford, he was the son of the late George and Thelma Cohn, and was a beloved husband to the late Myrna Baller Cohn and Arlyn Matwetsky Cohn. He was also predeceased by his brother, David Cohn and sister, Harriet Cohn Herman. He is survived by his three sons and their spouses, Marc and Wendy Cohn of Manhattan, NY, Joel and Lisa Cohn of Norfolk, VA, and Bruce and Nicole Cohn of Alpharetta, GA; six grandchildren, Ayden, Melanie, Halle, Michael, Brian and Logan Cohn; brother-in-law Jack Herman; and sister-in-law Libby Cohn. Marvin was a graduate of Weaver High School in Hartford and the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. He was a dedicated pharmacist for over 40 years and spent his career working at pharmacies in the Hartford area including Genovese Drug Store, Bushnell Plaza Pharmacy and CVS Pharmacy. Customers were welcomed by his warm smile and friendly demeanor, and they were known to ask for him even on days when he wasn’t working. He was an active member of Congregation B’nai Sholom in Newington and served on the Cemetery Committee. Marvin enjoyed sports and was an avid tennis player and swimmer well into his later years. Undoubtedly, his greatest source of pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren with whom he shared a special bond and many treasured times together. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT. Interment will follow in the Congregation B’nai Sholom Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike (Jordan Lane), Wethersfield, CT. Following the interment, the family will receive relatives and friends at Vivo Restaurant inside the Hartford Marriott Downtown.
