SANDLER, Martha (Axelrod), 90, of Windsor died Thursday, October 15, 2009. She was the widow of Abraham Sandler. Born in Willimantic, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Etta (Shurin) Axelrod. Martha was the Assistant Director of Housing at the University of Hartford before she retired. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans and served as the Connecticut Department President. She was also a member of the Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield. She leaves her daughter, Lois Vanesse and her husband Robert of Tolland; her son, Andrew N. Sandler and his wife Francine of South Glastonbury; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Locicero, and Saul Sandler and his wife Heather; and her great-grandchildren, Angelina Locicero, and Joshua Sandler. She also leaves her special friends, Shirley, Alma, Wendal and Bonnie, and Veron. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 9:30 AM at the Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. Following the interment through Monday evening the family will receive relatives and friends at her home, 8 Vinlen Drive, Windsor.
