Marjorie (Elise) Irlandy

Marjorie Elise Irlandy, 94, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. Marjorie was born in New York, August 16, 1918, daughter of Beatrice (Schoenfeld) and Paul Loewenberg. Her family later moved to West Hartford. After studies at NYU, she completed her BA in Education at New Britain Teachers College. On October 19, 1941, she married Milton Irlandy, and they made their home in West Hartford. She moved to Maine in April 2010. Marjorie loved opera and classical music and was an avid and expert bridge player. She was also accomplished in handcrafts, especially needlecraft and knitting, and was known for her delicious desserts. Marjorie is survived by her three children: Barbara Loewenberg-Irlandy and husband Jon Hall of Portland, ME, Marcia Sinder and husband Alan of Spring Hill, FL, and Martin Irlandy and wife Angela of Southington. She also leaves four grandchildren: Josh Kekacs, Hannah Estes, Deborah Saxton and Jennifer Sinder; eight great grandchildren; her brother, Richard Loewenberg and wife, Dorothy, from Plymouth, MA; and former son-in-law and beloved friend, Joseph Kekacs. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hawthorne House, Freeport, ME and the staff and volunteers at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT 06105.
