Marion (Greenblatt) Sigal

Marion (Greenblatt) Sigal beloved wife of the late Abraham Sigal passed away with her family by her side, on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Marion was born on July 4, 1926 in Waterbury, CT, to the late Israel and Minnie (Marmer) Greenblatt. She graduated from Crosby HS in 1944 and from Waterbury Hospital as an RN in 1948. She worked at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York and Hartford, the VA Hospital in Newington and Hughes Convalescent Home in West Hartford. After graduating from UConn with her B.S. Nursing degree in 1971 she went to work for the State of Connecticut as a Nursing Home Inspector and retired from there in 1987. She was a resident of West Hartford, where she raised her children, for 50 years, Old Saybrook for 35 years and was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford for 50 years. She is survived by her loving son Michael and his wife Ruth (who Marion called her daughter) and her cherished and adored granddaughters, Amy and Stacey of Cromwell, CT. She is also survived by and enjoyed a special relationship with her sister-in-law Ruth Jacobson, her loving nieces Lynda Greenblatt and Janet Greenblatt and her loving nephew Carl Galinsky and his wife Carol. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and their children. She was predeceased by her sister Florence Greenblatt Bronfin and brother Herbert Lewis Greenblatt. She also leaves behind her daughter Robin Sigal. Marion’s family would like to acknowledge her special friends in Old Saybrook, Pam Pacelli, Linnet McNivens and her daughter Megan for all their selfless help and friendship. We are also thankful for the wonderful care she received at Connecticut Hospice. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, with entombment in the Congregation Beth Israel cemetery in Hartford. Shiva will be observed at the home of Michael and Ruth Sigal, 5 Copper Knoll Lane, Cromwell on Sunday following the interment and Monday afternoon and evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Adath Israel, PO Box 337, Middletown CT 06457 or Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405.
