Marilyn Rothstein

Marilyn (Feinberg) Rothstein of Boca Raton, FL and West Hartford, CT died Saturday August 16, 2025. Born August 4th, She lived a remarkable and unique 103 years. A life defined by curiosity, adventure, and learning. A world traveler who also raised 3 children, she journeyed to places as far as Papua New Guinea and India, carrying home a deep appreciation for the richness and diversity of humanity. She was a skilled party planner and organized many memorable events. Marilyn will be remembered for her lifelong generosity and unwavering commitment to philanthropy. She was a devoted supporter of the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Jewish Family Services, and Harold Rothstein Chabad, and she established a scholarship at the University of Hartford to benefit future generations. A dedicated donor and board member of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, a place of special significance to her, she worked tirelessly to advance the arts and cultural life of the community. 

Even in her later years, she never stopped growing and discovering, going back to school to get her masters when others were retiring. Artistic and extremely well read,she embraced painting in her 90's and never stopped reading. Her dedication to her health and independence allowed her to live on her own past her 100th birthday—a testament to her strength and vitality. She will be remembered for her wisdom, spirit, and generosity, and for the remarkable example she set of a life fully and beautifully lived.

A loving and attentive mother and grandmother she leaves her children, Dr. Cary S. Rothstein and his wife, Wendy Cole Rothstein, her daughter, Janice Rothstein, her son, Benet Rothstein; her grandchildren Aaron and Carley Rothstein and Eric and Daniel Rubenstein as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 Thursday at Temple Beth Israel 701 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06119. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Benet Rothstein Child Services at Jewish Family Services or to University of Hartford Reba and Alexander Rothstein Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT.
