Manuel (Manny) (Nathan) Wendrow

Manuel (Manny) Nathan Wendrow, age 91, passed away peacefully, after a very brief stay at the Palliative Care Unit of Hartford Hospital, on Monday morning (September 1, 2014) surrounded by his loving family. Manny leaves behind two children. Sheryl Tutolo and her husband Robert, Jr, of Northfield and a son Joel Wendrow of Bristol. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Bobby, Carly and David Tutolo and Heather Wendrow. Manny is predeceased by his wife, Dora, the love of his life. In addition to his immediate family, Manny leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. He was born in Hartford, CT, in 1923, son of the late Samuel & Belle (Forman) Wendrow. He graduated from Weaver High School in 1941. Manny was a WWII Veteran, serving in Europe, for 3 years and 3 days, something he was very proud of. He met Dora in 1954 and married in 1955. They were married for 58 wonderful years. Manny worked in retail all of his life, spending over 29 years or service with Michaels Jewelers, as Counselor of Accounts. Manny and Dora enjoyed many years of retirement together, frequently traveling to Ogunquit Maine and many other New England destinations. They were avid fans of both The Hartford Stage Company and Goodspeed Opera House. His greatest joy was time spent with Dora, his children and grandchildren. Manny was blessed to have the support of his family as well as loving and caring neighbors, aides and staff from the Hebrew Home Adult Day Center. A special appreciation to Manny’s caregiver from Elder’s Choice, Sandra Duah, for all she did to take care of him. Both he and Dora felt a special bond with her and without whom Manny and his family would have been lost. A family graveside service is planned for Thursday, September 4th at 10:00 am at the B’Nai Tikvoh-Shalon Cemetery, Jordan Lane Extension, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. The family will receive at the home of Manny & Dora Wendrow, 34 Rosewood Drive, Newington on Thursday, immediately following the service until 3:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
