Lynne Stoloff

October 8, 1942 — July 13, 2025

Lynne Stoloff was born on October 8, 1942, and passed on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82. She was the loving wife of David Stoloff; mother of Allison Diaz, Rebecca Szomstein and Matthew Stoloff; sister of Beth Madresh, Robert Abrams, and the late Marjorie Bosco; sister-in-law of Filippo Bosco and Nina Tsakadze; grandmother of Raquel Szomstein, Jeannie Szomstein, Izzy Szomstein, Salomon Cohen, Andrew Diaz, Kevin Diaz, and Ryan Diaz; mother-in-law of Andy Diaz, Yookyung Hwang and the late Marcos Szomstein; and aunt of Gisella Bosco, Paolo Bosco, Elizabeth Madresh, Marjorie Lehman, Kelly Horrigan, Justin Lehman, Alex Bosco, Lisa Bosco, Ariana Abrams, Teodora Abrams-Adams, Eric Adams, and Victor Abrams.

Lynne met the love of her life, David, at a party hosted by her sister Beth in Kansas. The very next morning, Lynne called her family to tell them she was going to get married. Beth said to Lynne, “You’re going to marry him? You don’t even know his name!” And Lynne said, “It’s not important.” They were married for almost fifty years.

Lynne held an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Middlesex Community College and a Bachelor of Science from Union Institute. As a dental hygienist she practiced in Kansas and New Jersey. In addition to working as a dental hygienist she also worked as a teacher’s assistant.

One of Lynne’s greatest passions was to achieve educational equality for the hearing impaired. As a child, Lynne lost some hearing from scarlet fever and measles. She understood the problems associated with hearing loss. Her son, Matthew, was born with a significant hearing impairment. Lynne became fluent in sign language and worked tirelessly to provide Matthew with the help he needed to develop and prosper. She was committed to fighting for an educational system that provided proper support for children with hearing disabilities. There were many challenges that confronted Lynne. She was an enthusiastic advocate for the hearing impaired and was always prepared to fight for their rights.

Lynne was very talented. She was artistically gifted. She played the violin for many years. She was excellent at needlepoint, crocheting and knitting. She loved to learn new knitting techniques.

She loved to spend quality time with her family, from watching TV dramas and QVC together to spending many hours talking on the phone learning about what her children and grandchildren were doing. No matter what physical challenges she had, she was always present and a very happy person.

Lynne loved her family immensely and enjoyed giving and receiving kisses and hugs to and from everyone. She was extremely compassionate. Everyone who met Lynne fell in love with her. She had an amazing amount of energy and was always interested in helping others. We will miss Lynne dearly.
