complications of COVID and chronic illness. Left to cherish her memory are daughters

Renata Lantos (Joseph) of Portland, CT, Helen Swede of West Hartford, CT, Sari L.

Swede (Neil Grossman) of Arcata, CA, Marci Jan Swede (Bruce Taillon) of Naperville,

IL; four beloved grandchildren, Paul, Daniel, Aaron, and Katherine, and four beloved

great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Abigail, Max, and Julia. Lola was a Holocaust survivor

from Łódź, Poland who was predeceased by her parents and 9 siblings, five of whom

Shoah. She served as co-founder and president of the Ima Club (Ima means “mother” in

Hebrew), which raised funds to help war orphans like herself and as President of

Hadassah, in Buffalo, NY. Lola contributed oral history interviews to Steven Spielberg’s

Shoah Institute and the Holocaust Resource Center of Buffalo, both archived at the

  United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

A private burial service took place at Congregation Beth Israel Cemetery in Avon, CT on
