Lois (Becker) Smith

Lois (Becker) Smith, 74, of Gray Pine Common, Avon, died on Saturday, April 12, 2008 after a valiant fight with arterial sclerosis and open heart surgery, with many complications. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Susan (Weisenberg) Becker. She was a graduate of William Hall High School, West Hartford and Hartford Secretarial School. Upon graduation, she was employed by Westinghouse Electric, Elevator Division until her children were born. She leaves her husband of 52 years, Gerald Smith; a son: Dr. Robert S. Smith and his wife, Carol, of Milford; a daughter: Suzanne S. DeLaura of Gales Ferry; and two grandchildren: Danielle and Carli Ann DeLaura. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Becker. Funeral services were held privately at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. A Memorial Period will be observed Wednesday and Thursday at her home.
