Lillian L Slonim (84) passed away in Boca Raton, Florida on May 10th following a long illness. Born in Hartford, Connecticut on November 27th, 1927, she was the daughter of Samuel Lefkin, who died when she was 11 years old, and Ida Epstein Lefkin who passed away in 1983. She was a 1945 graduate of Weaver High School In 1949, Lillian married Nathan Slonim and three years later they moved to Buffalo, New York where Nate, with Lillian’s assistance, joined Nate’s brother Arthur in establishing Slonim Distributors, a company which specialized in floor and carpeting products sales in Western New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. During her time in Buffalo she raised their three children, Sherry , Gary and Terri. She was involved in the Sisterhood and other activities of their synagogue. They were also members of the Westwood Country Club. In 1980, Lil and Nate moved to South Florida where they re-established their business and expanded it to cover the Caribbean islands. Nate passed away in 1987. Lillian remained active in the Hadassah and the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County until a few years before her death. Lillian was predeceased by her brother Albert Lefkin of West Hartford Connecticut, her sister Marion Lefkin Eisenberg and brother in law Richard Eisenberg of Bloomfield Connecticut. She is survived by daughters Sherry Slonim and Terri Slonim Beck and her son Gary (Sharon) Slonim all living in South Florida as well as her granddaughter Taylor Beck. She is also survived by a sister Edith Lefkin Block, brother-in-law Arthur Block of Williamsville, New York, sister-in-law Joan Lefkin and special cousin Ida Epstein Cohen from West Hartford, Connecticut and by many loved nieces and nephews. The funeral for Lillian was held at the Emanuel Cemetery in Wethersfield, Connecticut on May 15th where she was re-united with her beloved Nate.
