Leo Abramson

Leo Abramson, 93, of West Hartford, died Thursday (December 17, 2009) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Norwich, he was the son of Avram and Sarah (Binder) Abramson, and beloved husband of the late Irma (Wolf) Abramson. Leo was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy and owned and operated a Candy Store and luncheonette in Hartford, called Polly’s Candy Shop, which he ran for for over 30 years. He then worked at Pratt and Whitney as an inspector for the next 17 years. Besides going to Ocean Beach and traveling the world, Leo loved his hobby of making beautiful silver jewelry. He was a member of Beth Hillel Synagogue for over 50 years. Leo was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Giunta and her husband Robert of Simsbury; his son, Robert Abramson and his fiance Lorene Murawsky of Pittsburgh; and his two granddaughters, Erica Giunta and Lauren Giunta of Boston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. at Weinstein Mortuary on 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, followed by interment at the Beth Hillel Cemetery in East Granby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society .
